COVID-19 Travel Restrictions - Italy

March 2, 2020

Dear Campus Community:

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Iowa and no confirmed cases within the UNI community at home or abroad. According to the CDC, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low for the general American public

The U.S. State Department recently elevated its travel advisory to Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) for Italy. As a result, UNI has issued a temporary moratorium on all university-sponsored travel there for students, faculty and staff. This is in addition to temporary moratoriums for both China and South Korea. We are in contact with UNI community members currently in Italy and are assisting them in arranging to return to the United States.

To help protect yourself and the UNI community you can practice everyday prevention measures like frequent hand washing, staying home when sick, and covering coughs and sneezes. We are tracking this issue closely and working diligently to prepare our campus community.
